Treatment

What to expect.
The initial treatment is an intake appointment, consisting of a health history intake and an acupuncture treatment. Our appointment will last from 1 1/2 -2 hours long. First, you will fill out a small amount of paperwork. We will then sit down together and discuss your health concerns, your health history and your goals for wellness. Getting to know each other is essential to your treatment because it will help me start to see the root of your energetic imbalances, and I can better treat your constitution and not just your symptoms. Treating the root of the imbalance helps to not solely mask your symptoms. The more I get to know you as a unique individual, the better I can carefully create a personalized treatment plan and make the best clinical choices for you! We will together, create a realistic plan on what we can work on together, and what kinds of lifestyle changes or activities you can do outside of our treatments to support your healthy goals. You can take a moment before your visit to think a little bit about your health and wellness.

For the acupuncture treatment, you will lay comfortably on the massage table and I will first feel your energetic pulses by placing my fingers lightly on both wrists. I use your energetic pulse to gain more information about you and your unique energetic rhythms. I may take a few minutes to touch or examine any sore spots on your body. I will then insert very thin needles just under your skin, and either leave the needles in for a short period of time or just insert and remove the needles. I also use a few other techniques such as Moxibustion and Gua Sha. Moxibustion is a healing practice of burning an herb named mugwort to stimulate and warm acupuncture points. Gua Sha is a practice to help release pain and tension by creating friction on the skin to help move stagnancy out of sore muscles. If these techniques are appropriate, then we will discuss them further before you receiving the benefits.

The follow up treatments follow a similar structure as the initial meeting except with a brief check in to gather information from you about how your symptoms are progressing and other energetic patterns that we can support or help shift. The follow up appointments last from an hour to 1 1/2 hours, so please clear your schedule so I have adequate time to create the most beneficial treatment for you.

After the acupuncture portion of your treatment we will take time to go over any lifestyle changes you can do to help maximize the healing effects of your treatment. I may also recommend some dietary support or herbal remedies that may be beneficial. At this point we will take time to schedule a follow up appointment.
